Actress Edie Adams, who passed away this past week at the age of 81, had some jazz connections. Most famously wedded to comedian Ernie Kovacs, she later married trumpeter Pete Candoli, and she also appeared in this memorable commercial with tenor saxophonist Stan Getz:
I'm not all that familiar with much of Adams' work, but she's always stood out for me as Fred MacMurray's jilted secretary in one of my favorite movies, The Apartment. With her leopard-skin hat and ultra-cool glasses, she's hiply ahead of the circa-1960 curve that the movie depicts. A few months ago Adams reminisced about her work on the film.
