Hurricane Katrina: Ten Years Later

This week marks the ten-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, the Category 5 hurricane that hit the Gulf Coast killing hundreds and forcing thousands to be evacuated from their homes. New Orleans was particularly devastated, as the city's levee system failed and flooding persisted for weeks.

A decade later, many of the people and families affected by Katrina have relocated across the country, including in Indiana. The American Red Cross of Greater Indianapolis reported a year after Katrina that overall hurricane relief efforts had helped 3,000 individuals to evacuate that year.

This week on Noon Edition we spoke with a representative of the Red Cross as well as two women displaced by the 2005 storm.
