A study conducted by the Center for Diseases and Prevention shows that from 2004 to 2008, the number of home births increased by 20 percent, and now more than ever, women are hiring midwives for constant care during their pregnancy, rather than seeking out a doctor's consultation.

We talked about why people are increasingly going through the pregnancy process at home instead of at a hospital or in the care of a doctor -- and whether such a decision is safe.
