Noon Edition airs on Fridays at noon on WFIU.

Last month, a bill to ban Indiana drivers from holding cell phones while behind the wheel passed a House committee.

Several people who had lost loved ones to distracted driving spoke at the committee.

Indiana Republican State Rep. Holli Sullivan authored the bill.

Right now, 20 states, D.C., Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands prohibit all drivers from using hand-held cellphones while driving.

The next step for Bill 1070 is to be approved by the Senate.

Join us this week as we talk about the bill, distracted driving, and how it would be enforced.

You can follow us on Twitter @NoonEdition or join us on the air by calling in at 812-855-0811 or toll-free at 1-877-285-9348. You can also send us questions for the show at news@indianapublicmedia.org .
