The Monroe County Community School Corporation postponed its planned Fall 2025 merger of Childs and Templeton Elementary Schools in November.

Templeton Elementary School (above) is merging with Childs Elementary School. The school corporation hopes that by combining two economically divergent student populations, it can produce better outcomes for all students.

Indiana redistricting earns ‘D’ grade in national report card

A report released Thursday ranked Indiana a “D” grade for its “secretive and partisan” lawmaker-led redistricting.

Map A, pictured above, prioritizes compact districts. Map B used major roads as much as possible and focuses on including a mix of both urban and more rural areas within a district. And Plan C kept precinct boundaries intact, which made for less compact board districts.
