Hoosier Hills Food Bank Joins Food Drop

Hoosier Hills food bank in Bloomington is now part of a large-scale effort to decrease food waste.

The Statewide food drop program, which started as the Indy food drop, allows semi trucks to drop food denied by grocery stores to local food banks.

Brandon Bartley is the food sourcing coordinator at Hoosier Hills.

He says the drops will only require a few extra hours of work.  And, they allow food banks across the state to collaborate.

“It’s pretty cool to have all the food banks even the non-affiliated ones work together on a project like this," Bartley says.

The Food Dropped off at Hoosier Hills will be distributed to the six counties they serve. Hoosier Hills is still waiting to get its first drop.
