Columbus Police say they arrested nine people over the course of a year-long investigation into the Aryan Brotherhood.
According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, the Aryan Brotherhood is a white nationalist group and crime syndicate that often engages in drug trafficking and prostitution inside prisons.
Columbus police say all of the people they arrested as part of the investigation are members or associates of the group. But, a spokesperson from the department says race didn't appear to be a factor in the crimes.
Their investigation focused on complaints of drug dealing, burglaries and vehicle thefts. Police say some of the suspects also attempted to sneak contraband into the Bartholomew County Jail.
