Indiana Airbnb hosts welcomed more than 320,000 visitors this year.

A report from the company says Hoosier hosts earned $36 million in combined income in 2018.

It says the number of hosts is up nearly 27 percent from last year.

Marion County had the highest number of visitors, with more than 131,000 guest arrivals. Airbnb says hosts there earned a total of $14 million.

Monroe county ranks third highest in the state with $3.1 million in total host income for the year. The county welcomed around 28,000 guests. That’s at least 11,000 more visitors than last year.

Earlier this year, Governor Eric Holcomb approved a bill that blocks local governments from banning short-term rentals like Airbnb, but still allows for specific regulations.

How rental owners collect and pay taxes is an issue legislators could take up during the upcoming legislative session.
