The owner of two Bloomington restaurants must pay more than $160,000 to some of its employees after a U.S. Department of Labor investigation.
The investigation looked into practices at two restaurants owned by Ji Enterprises: Restaurant Ami and Toto’s Uncle.
Investigators discovered recordkeeping, overtime, and minimum wage violations.
The Department says Ji Enterprises failed to pay employees the federal minimum wage of $7.25 and didn’t compensate them for overtime.
They also did not keep proper records of how many hours employees worked.
The Departments says Ji Enterprises must pay $162,254 to a total of 12 employees.
Ji Enterprises did not respond to a request for comment.
The U.S. Department of Labor encourages anyone who suspects workplace violations to file a report with the department’s Wage and Hour Division through their PAID Program. More information can also be found at the Department of Labor website.
