The Monroe County Public Library’s Ellettsville branch will reopen Monday after undergoing renovations.
The library provided temporary service at the Endwright Center and the Smithville Digital Warehouse while construction was underway.
Director of the Monroe County Public Library Marilyn Wood says the changes were necessary because of increased use of the Ellettsville branch. She says the renovations reflect the community’s needs.
"The community makes very heavy use of our meeting room space, so we expanded to create new meeting rooms and also a pre-k space and also to ensure that we were providing services for the teens in Ellettsville."
The library will host a series of events to celebrate its reopening, including a grand reopening ceremony on March 21.
Guests will be able to tour the new preschool and teen spaces and other meeting areas within the renovated space.
Wood says they hope the changes will bring the community together.
"We hope that it will allow folks to be able to gather for meetings or civil engagement or panel discussions or really an opportunity to be a lot more inclusive."
The Ellettsville Library will officially reopen on Monday at 10 a.m.
