Bloomington Transit Proposes Bus Route Changes

Bloomington Transit is holding a public meeting Tuesday night to gather input about proposed route changes.

The changes aim to accommodate the new transit hub on the corner of Walnut and Third Streets.

Bloomington Transit General Manager Lew May says under the proposal, buses would be routed down Third Street as opposed to Kirkwood Avenue as a more direct way to reach the new transit hub.

"The service changes are necessary, given the change in the location," May said. "We will have to re-route buses in slightly different routes to get to the new location through the downtown area."

The new routes would create ten new stops in the downtown area.

A final decision is expected later this month, and the changes would take effect in late June when the new transit hub opens.
