Convicted Killer Who Escaped From Michigan Found In Indiana

Law enforcement authorities in Indiana have found a convicted murderer who escaped a Michigan prison on Sunday.

Michael Eliot, 40, is serving a life sentence for four murders in 1993. He escaped from the Ionia Correctional Facility in Michigan is now in custody in LaPorte County, Indiana.

Shortly after 6 p.m., a LaPorte County Sheriff‘s Deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a reported stolen vehicle when the vehicle sped away.

After a short pursuit, the vehicle stopped and the Eliot was taken into custody.

Elliot allegedly abducted a woman and stole her jeep. The woman was found safe after escaping at a gas station in Middlebury, Indiana.

The woman‘s jeep was found abandoned around 12:15 p.m. in Shipshewana. Area schools were locked down as officials from over ten law enforcement agencies searched for Elliot.
