A new senior center in Bedford will be its first project using the state's Stellar grant awarded last year.
The facility, named Stonecutter's Place Senior Apartments, promises to offer safe, affordable housing options in the city's downtown. Hoosier Uplands is one of the partners on the project, and the organization's CEO David Miller says they plan to keep the center in top shape.
"Hoosier Uplands is well known for keeping our properties nice, and I guarantee you we'll do that," Miller said. "And it'll help revitalize the downtown area, so I think there's pluses right on down the line."
The final structure will be comprised of 30 apartments, expected to be ready for lease by February 2016.
