Wealthy Hoosiers Giving More To Charity This Holiday Season

Wealthy Indiana residents are increasing the amount they give to charities this year, a BMO Private Bank survey released Thursday says.

BMO Private Bank surveyed Indiana residents with investible assets of $1 million or more and asked how much they plan to give to charitable organizations during the holiday season.

BMO Indiana managing director Chad Cassinelli says most of the respondents said they're giving more than last year.

"What we're seeing is that the Indiana residents who make $4,875 worth of donations to charities, that 25 percent of those are donating more than they did in 2013," Cassinelli says.

Cassinelli says charitable giving has almost returned to pre-recession levels. About 50 percent of Hoosiers surveyed also said they plan to volunteer during the season.
