Daybook: David Baker Death & Kyle Parker In Court

Good morning! Follow our reporters for today's top stories:

    • Award-winning composer, educator and writer David Baker died Saturday at the age of 84. Baker taught at Indiana University for 50 years. This past February the City of Bloomington — Baker's hometown for more than 50 years — presented him with its Living Legend Award. Musicians nationwide are remembering his legacy. Follow WFIU News ( @WFIUNews) for updates on visitation and funeral plans and more information about his life.
        • Kyle Parker, 22, will appear in court today for the first time via video conference in connection with the death of Shaylyn Ammerman. Shaylyn disappeared for two days last week. Searchers eventually found her body in a rural area of Gosport on Thursday evening. Follow Barbara Brosher ( @BabsOfBtown) for more details.
            • An inmate at the Monroe County Correction Center has died after jumping from the upper level of the cell block Saturday morning. Investigators say a surveillance video shows Michael Favor of Unionville walking upstairs to the upper floor of a cell block, deliberately climbed over the rail and jumped. Follow Becca Costello ( @Becca_Costello) for more information throughout the day.
