Kyle Parker Appears In Court, Pretrial Hearing Set For July

The man accused of killing 15-month-old Shaylyn Ammerman appeared in court Thursday.

A judge moved the date of a pretrial hearing from June to July 22.

Police say Kyle Parker killed the toddler in March and dumped her body in the woods, beating and raping the toddler in Owen County.

They say he took her from her crib at her father's house where he had been all night for a family party.

According to court documents, Parker confessed to the crimewhile talking to his step father. He told his step father he acted alone and used bleach to remove potential DNA evidence from his body and the body of Shaylyn. He said he burned the toddler's clothing and pacifier and planned to pin the crime on one of Shaylyn's family members to avoid charges.

Parker faces several charges including murder, rape and kidnapping.

Parker's trial date is set for August.
