Video: Watch ‘Indiana Newsdesk’ March 18, 2016

Coming up on Indiana Newsdesk.

About a half dozen Indiana communities have met the state criteria to establish a needle exchange. It's a place where drug users can turn in a dirty needle and get a clean one back. Early indications show they're having an impact. Ahead we tour a syringe exchange and explain what goes in to getting one of these programs off the ground and why there's a big question about whether they'll be able to continue.

Plus as predicted, local communities are taking up the issue of LGBT anti-discrimination after lawmakers this session declined to pass any protections. We go to Kokomo where the debate this week got heated.

Plus we're looking ahead to Indiana's May primary. Todd Young will appear on the ballot for the U.S. Senate seat after the election commission deadlocked on whether the Republican collected enough valid signatures. Ahead, our Drew Daudelin joins us to explain why some say now is the time to repeal Indiana's ballot signature requirements.

And it's March Madness! A look at the Hoosiers unexpected success.

Those stories plus the latest headlines from across the state right now on Indiana Newsdesk.
