The Herald-Times reports that Eagle Pointe Golf Resort has reopened after closing earlier this week due to tax code violations.
Monroe County Sheriff officers and the Indiana Department of Revenue shut down the pro shop, bar, dining facilities and golf course Tuesday morning.
Owner Doug Thomas told The Herald-Times the problem was a result of his business and Eagle Pointe's previous owner filing tax reports at the same time. He said it occurred before the sale of the business was complete last year.
Eagle Pointe's Association Board Director Robert Hall said this week he believed the situation was a miscommunication between the Department of Revenue and Thomas.
"The letter was delivered to the clubhouse, and it was a certified letter and it required somebody's signature, and somebody signed for it, and didn't pass it on to Doug Thomas," Hall said. "So he was unaware that."
Thomas declined an interview.
