Indiana University's volleyball, wrestling and golf programs will have new facilities to call home by September of 2018.
University Trustees approved plans for a 3,000-seat volleyball and wrestling arena south of Cook Hall off Fee Lane.
IU head coach Sherry Dunbar-Kruzan in a statement calls the new facility a "game-changer."
"Our student-athletes will also benefit by having a beautiful new space that is their own. We no longer have to take a back seat to any other program in terms of facilities," Dunbar-Kruzan says.
The arena will also be used for special events and include the volleyball offices.
Trustees also approved plans to renovate the IU golf course. The existing 18-hole championship and 9-hole par-3 courses we be reconfigured into a new 18-hole championship course and driving range with a new clubhouse.
Other design approvals include a parking garage and office building on 11th Street between Forrest Avenue and Walnut Grove as well as an addition to the Fine Arts Studio Building at 13th and Woodlawn Avenue.
