The Indiana State Police is investigating after a truck was struck by a bullet fired from another vehicle on I-465 near Emerson Avenue on Tuesday afternoon.
Police say a blue 2001 Dodge pickup truck was driving eastbound when a white Chevrolet Malibu with Louisiana license plates pulled up next to the truck and a male held a handgun out the window, firing several shots. At least one bullet hit the vehicle, but the driver of the truck was unharmed.
The victim described the driver of the Malibu as a black male in his early 20s and the passenger, who fired the gun, as a light-skinned black male with a "sleeve" tattoo on his right arm.
Police say the Dodge pickup was displaying an American flag and a "Make America Great Again" flag in the bed of the truck.
Police have interviewed the victim and one witness. They are asking anyone who may have witnessed the exchange to call ISP at 317-899-8577.
