Brown County State Park is well known for its fall color.
And the park's interpretive naturalist Patrick Haulter says the best time to look at the leaves is quickly approaching.
"[My] prediction is probably within the next week we will probably see them at their peak they're gonna be this year" Haulter says.
The workers at the park carefully watch the leaves every day, and sometimes see dramatic changes even within a few hours.
"Throughout the park it'll kinda be different. One day on one side of the park it might be peak. And then a couple of days later, the other side of the park might be at peak," Haulter says.
Haulter says that the leaves at the top often begin to change first because it is more difficult for the tree to move water to its edges. Also, because the leaves exposed to the most light are also the most susceptible to ripening to their final majestic palate.
