Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight was elected to a third term as the city's mayor on Tuesday.
The incumbent beat Republican challenger Martha Lake in Tuesday's election.
Goodnight received 5,995 votes — about 56 percent of the vote.
He says his campaign was happy with those numbers, considering about 53 percent of the city is Republican.
"We had a positive message on progress, cleaning up the city, crime being down, unemployment down, private investment being up. You know, they continued to run a negative campaign, and I think that may have ended up hurting them in the long run," Goodnight says.
He was first elected in 2008. Prior to serving as the city's mayor, he was a two-term member of the Kokomo City Council.
