Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke captured nearly two-thirds of the vote Tuesday in handing a crushing defeat to Democrat challenger, and District 77 Rep. Gail Riecken.
Following her concession speech,Riecken spoke about the campaign and announced her future political plans that put her District 77 house seat in play for next year's election.
"We tried to bring out the facts. We tried to make sure that people understood that we were in trouble in the city. We tried to make people understand we have a crime problem. And, I think that we had some success there," said Riecken.
While Riecken is not going to run again, she has plans for next year's session, including addressing sexual orientation equality.
