The Monroe County Community School Corporation School Board received an update last night from an outside consulting group studying Monroe County voter demographics.
The study provided data that would help county administrators find the best way to pursue another referendum. The referendum voters passed in 2010, will expire next year.
The data showed it would be difficult to attract a majority of voters in May because so many people register as independents... And, a November referendum could be crowded out by a larger number of issues.
"I look forward to the board giving some direction on this. And again, the more information they have, and hopefully, the best decision we'll be able to make," said Judith DeMuth, the MCCSC Superintendent.
The current referendum has helped bring $7 and a half million annually to fund teachers' salaries and programs throughout the county.
