Indiana University today awarded actor Kevin Kline an honorary doctoral degree.
Kline was a student at IU-Bloomington in the 1960s. He graduated with his bachelor's degree in 1970 before going on to Juilliard and eventually becoming a Tony and Oscar Award winning actor.
He credits IU for starting his career.
"Hearing myself extol today I thought this is nonsense, but no, it did all start here," Kline said. "When I went to New York and Juilliard I was a pretty formed actor and I got to polish what I learned here at Juilliard."
Kline's latest film My Old Lady also stars Maggie Smith of PBS' Downton Abbey.
