Property managers at the Arlington Valley Mobile Home Park in Bloomington made an unsettling discovery Tuesday morning.
While tending to a lot that had been vacant since a mobile home was moved from it this summer, they found human remains underneath a plastic storage bin located at the rear of the lot.
The Bloomington Police Department responded to their call at approximately 11:00 AM that morning. Officers were able to confirm the remains were human and in an advance stage of decomposition.
A news release from the department says initial estimates indicate the remains may be between two to three months old. Officers and detectives were unable to identify the age, race or gender of the remains upon initial investigation.
The remains are being transported to the University of Indianapolis Anthropology Department. There, personnel will assist in the identification and finding of the possible cause of death. According to the Monroe County Coroner, it could be a at least a month before results are available.
An investigation into the death is ongoing.
