Indianapolis will not be hosting Super Bowl LII (52) in 2018.
The game was awarded to Minneapolis, and will be played in their new stadium, set to open in 2016.
It will be Minneapolis' first time hosting the Super Bowl since 1992.
New Orleans was the other finalist. Indianapolis was considered a strong candidate after the job they did with the 2012 Super Bowl.
Governor Pence served as an Honorary Co-Chair of the 2018 SuperBowl Bid Committee.
""Indiana presented a compelling bid in Atlanta, and I commend the Super Bowl Bid Committee and all those who spent countless hours putting together a bid packet that told Indiana's story so well," Pence said in a statement. "Although the Super Bowl will not be coming to Indianapolis in 2018, we look forward to another opportunity to showcase our Hoosier hospitality and all that Indiana has to offer."
