July 4th Fireworks Coming Back To Monroe County Fairgrounds

The Monroe County Fair Board Association is bringing back its fireworks show this year.

The board cancelled the annual July Fourth show last year because there wasn't enough funding for it.

Monroe County Fair Board Secretary Tonya Clark says a group of about 20 people is coming together to organize the show. They're asking for donations to cover the cost of the fireworks and the insurance.

"They are just offering to do this for free," says Clark. "Nobody is making anything out of it. There is no profit. Nothing is going into anyone's pocket."

Clarks says they need to raise $15,000.

The show is scheduled for July 5 so it does not conflict with other July Fourth events.
