Indiana reported 239 more positive COVID-19 cases in long-term care facilities this week. The increase pushes the total cases among long-term care facility residents past 5,500.
The state counted 54 new deaths which brings the total past 1,200.
This comes as the state has started to allow visitors into facilities with specific restrictions.
More than 48 percent of the state’s COVID-19 deaths can be traced back to long-term care residents. Twenty-two facilities across Indiana recorded their first case of COVID-19 last week.
Last week, the state announced it would be releasing facility-level data after refusing to do so for months.
