The Monroe County Board of Commissioners recently approved funding for the reconstruction of three pedestrian bridges to meet today's standards.
The bridges are part of an effort to connect the northern end of the Karst Farm Greewnway to Ellettsville.
Public Works Director Lisa Ridge says there are also plans to extend connections on the east and west sides of Karst Farm Park.
"I think we're getting on board to have more projects," Ridge says. "All of our road projects are built now with sidewalks and side paths. So I think, the collaboration between city of Bloomington, Ellettsville, has been tremendous."
CLR Inc. will start the project within a month and be completed by July. The Commissioners will issue a $500,000 bond to fund the project.
The bridges are expected to last for 50 years.
