Vigo Co. School Board Continues Search For New Superintendent

The Vigo County School Board is continuing its search for a new superintendent. A survey created to collect public input closes Friday.

The board opened the survey earlier this month. It asks residents for their opinion on the strengths and weaknesses of the corporation itself, as well as skills and traits they'd like to see in the new superintendent.

Indiana State University Professor Terry McDaniel will analyze the results of the survey. He says while it's too early to determine what the community thinks, the survey has more than 1,300 results.

McDaniel says he plans to deliver the results of the survey to the school board next Wednesday

"And when [the board] formulates their questions for the first round of interviews with candidates, their questions will be based on information they get back from the survey," McDaniels says.

The board is accepting applications for the superintendent position until April 6. McDaniels says they hope to announce the new superintendent by late May.

Current superintendent Danny Tanoos announced his retirement earlier this year. He will step down after the current school year ends.
