The Indiana State Department of Health reported on Friday its highest number of positive COVID-19 cases since early May. With an additional 748 new cases, the states total increased to 50,300, and nine newly reported deaths brought the fatality count to 2,555.
The ISDH says it has tested 550,562 people across the state so far. That number includes tests run by the state, the Centers For Disease Control And Prevention, and some private laboratories. The number of tests that return positive is 9.1%.
Monroe County continued its streak of zero new deaths reported meaning the death toll is still at 28, but the county saw 14 new positive cases for a total of 329.
The ISDH reports 9,262 Monroe County residents have been tested.
Monroe County residents looking to get tested can choose between four locations, but as temperatures rise some facilities close earlier in the day resulting in canceled appointments. An OptumServe official said residents who receive a notice of a canceled appointment can still walk in earlier in the day given they've registered online.
