Heavy rain and flooding led to the third straight day of school closures for students in Bartholomew County. Students are using eLearning to make up for classroom time missed.
In a statement sent out Thursday night, the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation reported that the county was still experiencing a large number of road closures that would affect students' ability to get to school.
This is also the first time the corporation has had to utilize eLearning for students, though there have been guidelines in place for several years.
Corporation representative Larry Perkinson says this bout of rain caught the county by surprise, especially so late in the semester.
"We're going to have a learning curve for students and staff as we get back and review, and do a review of what we can do better if this were to happen again," he says.
Perkinson says school should be back in session on Monday.
