Bloomington Police say attempted murder suspect Brandon Richardson died Tuesday, a few days after he shot himself while officers apprehended him Friday.
Richardson, 34, was declared dead at IU Health Bloomington Hospital at 2:17 p.m. Tuesday, according to a BPD statement.
Police apprehended Richardson Friday on West Vernal Pike. Police had gotten a tip that he was inside a house with multiple handguns.
Officers blocked the intersection of Vernal Pike and Woodyard Rd. before serving the warrant. As the Critical Incident Response Team approached the house, Richardson fled in a car, driving west on Vernal before turning north on Woodyard.
Richardson's vehicle struck a Sheriff's vehicle and three other police cars. Police say Richardson then shot himself once in the head with a handgun.
Richardson was wanted for the attempted murder of a 29-year-old woman in the 2600 block of S. Rogers Street.
Police say Richardson was accused of tying the woman up with a dog leash, then beating and strangling her over the course of three days.
