The City of Bloomington says it will continue to place police officers at five intersections along West Third Street to help with traffic related to Interstate 69 construction.
The city placed officers at the intersections last week to help alleviate congestion, and says it will continue to do so through at least June 1.
The officers will direct drivers through lights at Franklin Drive, on the overpass, at Gates Drive and at Liberty Drive. They'll be in place from 3:45 p.m. to about 6 p.m.
The city says drone footage and firsthand accounts from officers indicate delays were reduced when officers were present.
The congestion on West Third is the result of ongoing I-69 construction. The Indiana Department of Transportation is expected to complete the Tapp Road interchange this weekend, and the West Second Street interchange should be done by late June. The city says INDOT has the West Third Street exchange slated for completion in August.
