Early voting ended today in Monroe County and registration specialists say the number of people voting ahead of Election Day is lower than previous years.
Karen Wheeler is the Monroe County Elections Supervisor. She says the drop in early voting is small.
"For what kind of election we have, it might be down a little bit from other years, but we're at, if you count mail-ins and the walk-ins, we're at about six percent, and tomorrow it'll be much bigger," she says.
Wheeler says the county polls saw about 5,035 walk-in voters and 530 voters that included military, mail-ins and travel board.
She says a major trend this year is an increase in Democratic voters, which she says stems from an interest around this election's candidates.
"The Democrats have more on their ballot, there's a lot more contested races, they have the judges and the prosecuting attorney and it's stirring up a lot of good interest," she says.
Election Day polling locations will be open Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
