The leader of a white nationalist group pleaded not guilty Monday to battery charges in Orange County.
Matthew Heimbach, 26, is accused of battery and domestic battery in the presence of a child after allegedly attacking his wife and her stepfather earlier this month.
Heimbach founded the Traditionalist Worker Party, which the Southern Poverty Law Center describes as a neo-Nazi group that advocates for racially pure communities.
Heimbach declined to comment on the situation as he left the courtroom. He'll appear in court again May 30 for a pretrial hearing.
Heimbach also faces unrelated charges stemming from an incident at a Donald Trump rally in Kentucky in 2016.
Court documents say Heimbach harassed an African-American woman who was protesting at the rally.
A Kentucky judge ordered Heimbach to attend anger management classes and gave him a suspended jail sentence as long as he doesn't re-offend within two years.
