Indiana University's 17th Street Metz Carillon tower is coming down.
The wrecking ball began demolishing the bell tower Wednesday. Construction workers say it should be down by Saturday and cleared out by the end of the month.
The 91-foot tall carillon tower played its last concert on Sep. 23. The 61 bell carillon is now being restored in Holland.
A new tower will be built in the arboretum in the center of campus. The project is expected to cost around $7 million and be complete in fall of 2019.
The IU Metz Carillon was built in 1970.
