A federal bankruptcy judge Thursday approved a bid for a homeowners association representing Eagle Pointe residents to purchase the shuttered golf course near Lake Monroe.
Pointe Service Association submitted the winning bid an auction for the golf resort on Monday.
President Jeff Norris says residents of the 19 villages at Eagle Pointe were disappointed when the most recent owner of the resort's golf course filed for bankruptcylast year.
Norris declined to disclose the purchase price, but says the association already had the money to make the purchase without asking homeowners for additional funding.
Norris says the organization plans to form a separate corporation that will be in charge of the golf course, restaurant, bar and other associated facilities. The corporation will hire a general manager to run the resort.
The purchase should be finalized by the end of the month and Norris says they hope to open the resort as soon as possible.
