The Tapp Rd. interchange with State Road 37 on Bloomington's west side is scheduled to open to traffic Friday night.
An Indiana Department of Transpiration statement says all lanes and on and off ramps will open at 8 p.m.
Construction crews will be back out Monday to put down permanent striping as flaggers direct traffic.
Several other constructions projects in the area are still ongoing as part of the I-69 Section 5 project. INDOT says the opening of the Tapp Rd. interchange should alleviate some of congestion on the west side.
"Motorists are encouraged to use Fullerton Pike, Tapp Road, Vernal Pike and SR 46 for cross town trips," says INDOT spokesperson Andy Dietrick in a statement.
Lane restrictions are still in place on the Second Street and Third Street bridges. West Second is expected to re-open by late June, while West Third is projected to be complete in August.
City of Bloomington police have been stationed at key intersections on West Third Street for the past two weeks.
Office of the Mayor Communications Director Yael Ksander says the flaggers will be out again on Monday. She says they'll evaluate the impact of Tapp Rd. being open and may limit the number of flaggers or how long they operate as the week goes on.
