Donor Gives Gay Bunny Book To Every Ind. Elementary School

Max Mutchnick is so pleased with John Oliver's new children's book about a gay rabbit that he has decided to donate a copy to every public elementary school in Vice President Mike Pence's home state.

Mutchnick is a co-creator of the show "Will & Grace."

John Oliver made headlines in March when he released A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo, a children's book about a gay rabbit who lives in the White House.

Oliver released the book in response to Marlon Bundo's A Day in the Life of the Vice President, a children's book about Pence's day-to-day activities through the eyes of the family's pet rabbit.

Oliver sought to use the book to draw attention to Mike Pence's controversial stance against gay marriage and his support of charities that promote gay conversion therapy.

In an Instagram post on Sunday, Mutchnick explained that he hopes to counter Pence's "message of intolerance" in Indiana by donating the book to all 1,121 public grammar schools.

"By donating these books, I hope to counter those efforts and provide positive role models and a story of inclusion for children in Pence's home state," Mutchnick says. "If this book can help one boy or girl in Indiana love and accept who they are, I know both Marlon Bundos would be proud—even though one of them is on the downlow."
