Low positive case counts have pushed Indiana’s seven-day positive case average downward, but Monroe County’s daily case counts remain high.
The Indiana State Department of Health reported Thursday 764 new positive cases confirmed between Sept. 3 and Sept. 9 and 13 deaths that occurred between Aug. 25 and Sept. 9. This week’s counts have been lower than previous weeks. On Monday, ISDH confirmed 390 positive cases — the lowest number of cases since 300 cases were reported July 6. The holiday weekends may contribute to lower initially reported cases, but daily counts this week have yet to exceed 800.
The state reported 102,243 Hoosiers have been tested for COVID-19 with a 7.2% seven-day positivity rate for unique individuals.
In Monroe County, ISDH reported 37 new cases, causing the seven-day positive case average to plateau. Beginning in mid-August, positive cases began growing but have recently slowed.
The county has tested 29,315 individuals with seven-day positivity rates growing to 16.2% for unique individuals and 10.5% for all tests, which, according to Monroe County Community School Corp. metrics, could push the corporation into the “Red Phase.”
The county death total remained at 36.
Across the state, 833 Hoosiers are hospitalized with COVID-19.
