Indiana COVID-19 hospitalizations have more than doubled since Gov. Eric Holcomb announced in late September that the state would fully reopen.
The Indiana State Department of Health reported Monday 1,634 hospitalizations due to the virus. This is nearly 900 more hospitalizations reported than the 759 reported five weeks ago on Sept. 21. According to ISDH data, almost a quarter of the state’s ICU beds are filled with COVID-19 patients, but only 5.8% of ventilators are being used by them.
The state documented an additional 2,009 positive cases confirmed this weekend and 13 new deaths that occurred between Oct. 12 and Oct. 25. These numbers increase state totals to 164,581 cases and 3,907 deaths.
Indiana’s seven-day positivity rate has stayed steady at 6.9% with 2,734,945 tests administered.
In Monroe County, the ISDH reported 25 new cases totaling 3,356 cases countywide since the pandemic began. The death count remained at 38.
The county has administered 115,617 tests. The seven-day positivity rate is 2.4%.
