A false message was sent to Vigo County School Corporation families about in-person classes being cancelled.

“I think there is so much uncertainty in our world right now that unfortunately someone wanted to cause chaos,” said Bill Riley, Vigo County School Corporation Director of Communications, in response to the message sent to VCSC families on Tuesday.

The message said: “"VCSC: schools will be closed starting 10/28/20 due to the increase in COVID cases. We  will switch to E-learning at this time."

“The message was not sent through our system. We believe someone spoofed our system with an outside system,” Riley said.

The corporation posted on its social media: “We are aware of a message that was sent to families about school closing tomorrow. This message was not sent from the Vigo County School Corporation and we are investigating how it was sent. School continues as normal tomorrow. We would suggest not clicking the link in the text message.”
