While Indiana has documented record-breaking COVID-19 numbers over the past weeks, Monroe County counts have remained relatively stable. But Monday the county reported a new COVID-19 death.
The Indiana State Department of Health reported 25 new cases and one new death in Monroe County, bringing county totals to 3,582 cases and 40 deaths. The county has administered 127,159 tests on 53,430 individuals with a 2.7% seven-day positivity rate.
Monroe County’s positivity rate has remained around 2% but increased over the weekend after factoring in an uncommonly high 5.9% recorded on Oct. 25.
Statewide, the ISDH reported a seven-day positivity rate of 8.2% — more than three times that of Monroe County’s heightened rate. The state’s positive case count grew by 3,080 to 185,185, and the death count grew by 26 to 4,150. Indiana has administered 2.9 million tests on 1.7 million Hoosiers.
The state reported 1,759 Hoosiers hospitalized due to the virus, which is the second greatest number of COVID-19 hospitalizations behind 1,799 on April 13.
