April Hennessey, a former MCCSC teacher and current parent of MCCSC students, beat incumbent Sue Wanzer, who had been on the board since 2001.
Hennessey ran on a platform that promotes a focus on equity, diversity, "socio-emotional learning" and "trauma-informed teaching," and community-school integration.
“I think with the numbers we saw tonight, it demonstrates people really are ready for change," Hennessey says.

One-term incumbent Cathy Fuentes-Rohwer won against Marsha Lovejoy. Fuentes-Rohwer is a current MCCSC parent and public education advocate. She also recently voted for MCCSC to reopen school buildings amid the continuing coronavirus pandemic.

Incumbent candidate Jacinda Townsend Gides won against Philip N. Eskew Jr. She is an MCCSC parent.

Incumbent District 5 candidate Keith Klein ran unopposed this year.
Klein has held the District 5 seat for three terms. He voted to reopen schools this fall.
