President Donald Trump’s campaign filed lawsuits this week in three states, demanding ballot counts halt, more access to ballot count locations, or ballot recounts.
The lawsuits are based on unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud, as election officials have repeatedly assured the security of mail-in ballots.
The lawsuits have fueled concerns that President Trump might contest election results at the Supreme Court.
Indiana University Law Professor Nicholas Almendares says it would take multiple steps for the Trump campaign to make a case at that level.
“That would go to a decision at a lower court, and they would appeal it to the court of appeals, and then it would go to the Supreme Court," he said. "Oddly enough- the way any other case would get there”
Almendares adds Trump’s legal team would have to challenge enough ballots to make a difference in the results.
