Indiana University students who participated in mass celebrations following the IU vs. Michigan football game last weekend will face consequences, according to university officials.
Amber Denney, Assistant Director of Strategic Communications, said in an email that students signed an agreement upon their return to campus outlining COVID-19 health protocols and disciplinary action that would follow violations. Those consequences could include suspension or expulsion.
“Any students responsible for such violations can and will be held responsible,” Denney said in an email.

According to her, students faced disciplinary action from violations after the Penn State game, and the university sent a reminder to students prior to the Michigan game.
Denney could not provide specific numbers regarding how many violations occurred.
COVID-19 trends have risen in Monroe County with the average seven-day positivity rate growing from 2.4% on Oct. 22 to 5% as of Nov. 13.
