Holiday Traditions In Bloomington During Pandemic

Although the pandemic has affected in-person holiday events, Bloomington will still have holiday traditions.

The Canopy of Lights and decorated buildings and snowflakes will be downtown from Thanksgiving until Valentine's Day. Because of COVID-19, there will not be a tree-lighting event.

Beginning on Thanksgiving and continuing through the holiday season, the Downtown Bloomington Inc. Facebook page will have, “Some vintage clips from years past which are lots of fun. And people might be able to see themselves in their clip from 20 years ago or 15 years ago,” said Talisha Coppock, executive director with Downtown Bloomington, Inc.

Coppock said this is in an effort to celebrate virtually.

“We thought maybe this would be a good way to share some of these clips even if their families are not together, they can relive some of those memories and tell stories,” she said.

When visiting downtown for holiday activities, CDC protocols are required.
