The University of Notre Dame will require all students to get a COVID-19 vaccine before returning for the fall 2021 semester.
In a letter to the campus community, university officials announced undergraduate, graduate and professional students will all need to be fully vaccinated before returning to campus in the fall. That’s unless they have a documented medical or religious exemption.
University spokesperson Dennis Brown says faculty and staff will be “strongly encouraged” to get vaccinated, but as of now, they won’t be required to.

The announcement comes ahead of the university’s first vaccination clinic on Thursday. First doses will be administered to current students, faculty and staff until April 15 at the Compton Family Ice Arena. Second doses will be administered from April 29 to May 6.
Officials encouraged students to make use of the on-campus clinic, and to register their status online if they’ve already been vaccinated.
